BYRON ROGERS
Pedigree Consultants
Byron Rogers has a lot of irons in the fire but they are all receiving the same amount of heat.
“Crush it,” Rogers said when asked what his personal motto is. “If you want to do anything in life, knock it out of the park and make it great. If you can’t do that, go elsewhere.”
Rogers, 36, is managing partner of Pedigree Consultants and so much more. He has co-authored books, developed the mating site TrueNicks, and worked at some of the most internationally recognized breeding and sales operations. His dedication to various pursuits is a testament to his belief in the viability of the industry.
“I am a glass-half-full guy, so I am actually positive about where the industry is,” Rogers said. “There is no doubt that we are at a crossroads and there are some structural issues that need addressing, but I do think that there are some smart people with good ideas working on solutions. I’d like to see a more customer-centric approach to everything—as even in my business, I see that delivering on customer expectations is what drives growth.”
Rogers grew up in Australia as one of eight children raised in a family that raced horses. He worked at stud farms during holidays from school and even got experience with a bookmaker. In what spare time he has left between all his interests in racing, Rogers has begun to train for another triathlon.

Biggest professional achievement: “While at Arrowfield I bought a mare at [the] Keeneland [November breeding stock sale] for $77,000 (Synaesthesia), and the first foal we bred out of her was Mentality, a three-time Group 1 winner. Arrowfield sold yearlings collectively worth more than $1-million [Australian] the following three years out of the mare, so to breed a good horse and get sales ring results was pretty special.”
